Wednesday, May 11, 2022 - Lisa Ober - Portraits
Lisa Ober is a portrait and still life painter, workshop teacher,
and former owner of OA Gallery in Kirkwood MO. Ober’s work
has appeared in publications including The Pastel Journal and Southwest Art. She has enjoyed numerous awards in the Pastel 100. Ober also received a top award in the prestigious 2015 PastelWorld, a competition and exhibit held at the IAPS Eleventh Biennial Convention. Collectors have recognized her work for its clever content, exquisite realism, and detail. Ober enjoys making pastels “behave” the way she envisions as she endeavors to use the medium in fresh new ways. She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and IAPS Master’s Circle member.

Gateway Pastel Members will offer positive attributes and suggestions to help the members who submit a painting or two. We ask members to send 1 to 3 paintings. Depending on the amount of participants will determine how many of your paintings will be reviewed. This is a great way to elevate your artwork!
Please email your images to [email protected] with subject: April Critique
These are due no later than April 1st which will allow Michelle Spencer time to assemble and get to Lon for him to review and make notes for our meeting Wednesday, April 13, 2022.

Christine Ivers - Nocturne Program
We have Christine Ivers for the Wednesday, March 9 at 6:30 pm on Zoom. She will give a nocturne presentation with so much more info. She is a fabulous teacher.
She was inducted into the IAPS Master Circle of Pastelists. She was juried into PaintAmerica’s Top 100 Artists for 2008 & 2010 with shows that traveled the country for next two years visiting Galleries and Museums. Chris has been published in Best of American Artists Pastel Edition, Practiqué des Arts
(a French publication featuring artists from around the world), American Art Collector Magazine, The Pastel Journal and was honored with the Art Spirit Foundation Silver Medal Award for Excellence in Pastel at the Salmagundi Club in NYC.

Lon Brauer - Critique of Volunteers Artwork
We will have a critique session with Lon Brauer. This is a great opportunity for our members to get some valuable feedback.

Lon Brauer is an American artist known for his work in figure and plein air landscapes. He has a BFA from Washington University and an MFA from Fontbonne University – both in St. Louis, Missouri.
Lon Brauer has shown his work both nationally and overseas. He holds signature membership with Oil Painters of America, American Impressionist Society, Outdoor Painters Society, and American Society of Marine Artists. He travels extensively with top plein air events each season. When home, he is in the studio painting and sculpting. He holds frequent workshops where he teaches drawing and painting through figurative themes.
We ask members to send 1 to 3 paintings. Depending on the amount of participants will determine how many of your paintings will be reviewed.
Lon is a great teacher and will point out positive attributes as well as things to consider to help with your growth.
